Tamara Bowman has been helping clients design their homes for many years. Now she has also opened a retail outlet, Metric Design Centre located on Second Avenue.
Metric offers consultations, space planning, drawings, custom products, renovations and new home design.
And they can outfit the entire house or office with custom-designed furniture and accessories.
Bowman has custom-designed furniture, plumbing fixtures that come from Spain and cabinetry from a company called NEFF, located in Brampton, Ont., just to name a few.
You can have your home designed and get every product through Metric, Bowman said, adding, the custom products are competitively priced with mass-produced items.
Bowman has been designing for more than a decade.
After graduating from the Pacific Design Academy in Victoria in the late 1990s, Bowman started her own design business in Saskatoon doing mostly showhomes and consultations.
“I started out part-time and it grew into a full-time career,” she said.
Opening the store is another way for clients to get ideas and find the perfect items for their home or office.
“There was such a need for accessible design and a lack of products,” she said.
Metric is able to help with all projects, big or small, she said.
Clients can come in for a 15-minute consultation just to go over some ideas or Metric can do full-scale managing of large projects.
She said having a solid plan before you start any project will save you money and peace of mind.
“If you spend some time and energy on an overall plan it can alleviate the stress and confusion,” she said. “They can feel comfortable about their actions.”
Metric Design is open Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.METRIC DESIGN CENTRE
