About the position…

For immediate hire, Metric is looking for a highly dynamic and engaged Interior Designer / Architectural Technologist with a variety of strong commercial experience. The ideal candidate has a thirst for creativity, a passion for the details, a high standard of perfection, and a goal to provide an elevated client experience. Metric offers concept to construction in-house, which requires a key skill set to coordinate and manage a project professionally as a team while balancing the vision of the company and that of the client consistently from beginning to end. Projects are delivered from curated design packages with a high attention to detail by utilizing quality products and providing exceptional service from team members and trade partners. Furthermore, projects are planned effectively and efficiently from design to implementation, providing clients with refined timelines and on-budget projects from small-scale renovations to high-value commercial and residential build-outs and additions.

Key Role Requirements

- Meet and enhance Metric beliefs, values, policies, and professionalism standards

- Contribute to large-scale design projects

- Initializing and managing client relationships throughout the project

- Strategize project delivery and delegate tasks as required to the supporting team

- Liaise with the project management team throughout the project to develop and implement the scope of services

- Complete technical drawings

- Foster close partnerships within the company

- Produce design presentations reflective of Metric’s standards through; concept design, space planning and product selections

- Manage portions of a project throughout the phases of design; Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Drawings/Specifications, Budgeting, and Construction Administration.

- Efficient reporting, assessment, and documentation

- 5 years of combined commercial interior design or architectural design experience

- Professional portfolio required

- Proficient in building codes & technical drawings, both commercial & residential

- Proficiency in AutoCAD. Experience in Sketch Up, 20/20, Mac devices & programs, Google Sheets, and other related space planning/rendering programs preferred

- Artistic skills, including hand rendering and sketching capabilities preferred


- Degree in Interior Design or Architectural Technology preferred

- Industry accreditations/certifications are an asset

Working Conditions

- Most work is in an office environment and some visiting of work sites

- Schedule consists of a standard work week but may be required to work overtime including some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones

- Some travel, site-work will be required

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift and mobilize small to medium items

- Ability to travel locally or out of the city with access to a vehicle & valid drivers licence
