Metric Design provides commercial interior design, office renovations, tenant improvements, and commercial decorating services in Saskatoon and across Saskatchewan. We support private-sector clients, builders, and developers who need projects to move forward efficiently, stay on budget, and deliver measurable results once occupied.

Our role is simple: define commercial projects properly early, then carry them through design, documentation, and execution so they perform well operationally, financially, and experientially.

How Our Commercial Process Works

We begin with space planning, high-level layouts, and early budget alignment. This phase identifies constraints, opportunities, and risk areas before costly commitments are made.

1. Commercial Planning & Feasibility

We refine layouts, finishes, furniture, and styling while coordinating with builders, engineers, and consultants to ensure decisions remain buildable, code-aware, and budget-conscious.

2. Design Development, Decorating & Coordination

We prepare drawings, specifications, and schedules suitable for permitting, pricing, and construction. Our documentation supports accurate costing and reduces redesign.

3. Documentation & Pricing Support

4. Construction & Installation Support

During construction and installation, we provide ongoing design and decorating support, clarifications, and coordination to maintain alignment through completion.

This approach reduces budget drift, redesign, and decision fatigue while supporting smoother delivery.

Commercial Design Fees & Pricing Guidance

Commercial projects vary widely in size and complexity. Our pricing follows a clear, structured framework similar to our residential services, adapted for commercial delivery.

Commercial services are typically structured in one or more of the following ways:

A notebook and ruler and pencil are the starting point for creating. A conceptual design starts with a blank page and great ideas for interior design from Metric Design.
Hourly package inquiry

Hourly Professional Services

Used for feasibility studies, workplace assessments, decorating-only scopes, or targeted support.

Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $300 per hour, depending on scope and seniority.

Phase-Based Design & Decorating Services

For office renovations, tenant improvements, or full interior delivery, fees are commonly structured by phase and complexity.

As a general guide, commercial interior design and decorating fees often fall within 8 to 12 percent of construction and FF&E value, depending on scope, coordination requirements, and level of documentation.

Phase-Based package inquiry

Min Commercial package inquiry

Minimum Commercial Engagements

To ensure proper planning and coordination, most commercial projects require a minimum engagement, particularly for tenant improvements, office renovations, or full decorating scopes.

Final fees are confirmed once scope, size, and delivery method are defined. We are transparent about fees early so teams can plan appropriately and avoid surprises.

Who We Are a Good Fit For

We work best with private-sector commercial projects, including:

  • Professional offices and corporate tenants

  • Medical, dental, and wellness clinics

  • Commercial landlords preparing spaces for lease

  • Dealerships and service-based businesses

  • Owner-occupied commercial facilities

  • Contractors seeking a reliable commercial design and decorating partner

If your project is still forming, evolving, or moving toward execution, we can support it at the appropriate level.
