We're Hiring! Interior Designer for immediate hire
Metric is hiring an Interior Designer (intermediate or lead) with both residential and commercial experience to add to our highly dynamic team. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, highly creative, detailed, holds themselves to a high standard, and believes in an elevated client experience. Metric offers concept to construction in-house, which requires a team to work collaboratively while creating intentionally curated design packages and providing exceptional project implementation services. Metric projects range from small-scale renovations to high-value commercial and residential build-outs and additions.
The candidate should energize others, be smart, organized, curious, experienced, technically inclined and can manage themselves and set up the team for success. They should be highly experienced in both residential and commercial (priority) design projects. The successful candidate’s goals should consist of an ongoing drive to push themselves in originality, personal and professional development, outside the box thinking, and a focus on ongoing upgrades to service offerings.
Job Tasks…
This candidate’s time will be mixed with sourcing, managing, and cultivating client relationships; planning/conceptualizing, drawing, budgeting, and scheduling projects; delegating, mentoring, collaborating, and overseeing projects; implementing and bettering processes, plus managing and measuring results. This also includes product & service sales, client meetings, communication, developing impressive presentation documents, and building their network. Metric is looking for someone to lead by example and elevate the design team.
Key Roles
Excellent intuition and negotiation skills
Management of multiple design projects of various scales
Initializing and managing client relationships
Strategize project delivery and delegate tasks as required
Liaise with the project management team
Support in product orders and site coordination
Educate/enhance personal expertise and those of the design team
Produce presentations reflective of Metric standards
Manage projects tasks throughout the phases of design & construction
Complete drawings - 2D, 3D - by hand & computerized
Provide detailed specifications
Efficient reporting, assessment, and documentation
Meet and enhance Metric beliefs, values, policies, goals, and professional standards

Experience
3-5 years of combined commercial and residential interior design
Professional portfolio required
Leadership experience is an asset
Proficient in building codes and technical drawings, both commercial & residential
Proficiency in AutoCAD (required), Sketch-Up, Mac devices & programs, Google Sheets, Photoshop, and other related space planning/rendering programs preferred
Strong artistic skills, including hand rendering and sketching capabilities
Education
Degree in Interior Design preferred
Industry accreditation/certifications are an asset
Experience practicing in Saskatchewan is preferred
Working Conditions
Most work is in an office environment 8-5 Monday to Friday
The schedule consists of a standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones
Some travel, site-work, flexibility in regards to time will be required

Ability to lift and mobilize small to medium items
Ability to drive locally or out of the city with access to a vehicle & valid drivers license
