Job description
Metric is hiring a Lead/Senior Interior Designer with both residential and commercial experience to add to our highly dynamic team. This ideal candidate is knowledgeable, highly creative, detailed, hold themselves to a high standard, and believes in an elevated client experience. Metric offers concept to construction in-house, which requires a team to work collaboratively while creating intentionally curated design packages and providing exceptional project execution services internally & externally. Metric projects range from small-scale renovations to high-value commercial and residential build-outs and additions.
The candidate should energize others, be smart, organized, curious, experienced, and technically inclined and can manage themselves and their team for success. They should be highly experienced in both residential and commercial design. The successful candidate’s goals should consist of an ongoing drive to push themselves in creative thinking, organizational and management tools, and general personal and professional development.
Job Tasks…
This candidate’s time will be:
Client Relationships- managing, sourcing, and cultivating client relationships
Design Work - oversee planning/conceptualizing, drawing, specifying, and modelling
Team management - conduct leadership, delegation, mentoring, collaboration, and structure
Project management - oversee budgeting, scheduling, procurement/implementation of client projects
Role management - implementing processes, and software, plus managing and measuring results.
Metric is looking for a highly skilled individual to lead and elevate the design team.
Key Roles
Excellent intuition and negotiation skills
Manage client relationships throughout the project
Lead the team through multiple design projects of various scales
Strategize project delivery and delegate tasks as required
Liaise with other members of the project management team
Educate and enhance the design expertise of the design team
Produce presentations reflective of Metric’s standards
Manage projects throughout the phases of design & construction
Complete drawings - 2D, 3D
Initiate and approve specifications
Efficient reporting, assessment, and documentation
Meet and enhance Metric beliefs, values, policies, goals, and professional standards

Experience
5+ years of combined commercial and residential interior design
Professional portfolio required
Leadership experience required
Proficient in building codes and technical drawings, both commercial & residential
Proficiency in AutoCAD (required), Google Sheets, Home Designer, Sketch-up, Photoshop, and other related space planning/rendering programs preferred
Strong creative/artistic skills, including hand rendering and sketching capabilities
Education
A degree in Interior Design preferred
Industry accreditation/certifications are an asset
Experience practising in Saskatchewan is preferred
Working Conditions
Most work is in an office environment 8:30-5:00 Monday to Friday
The schedule consists of a standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones
Some travel, site work, and overtime will be required
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and mobilize small to medium items
Ability to drive locally or out of the city with access to a vehicle & valid driver’s licence

Salary: $55,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
